Ask Abe

ASK ABE: What Happened Here?

Sue Atwell ’68 asks Abe: “I was a bystander at the Dow Riots of Oct. 18, 1967. I am writing a memoir of that day. I distinctly remember some sort of memorial plaque, east of the entrances to Social Sciences (in the woods near the north path to the building) that was a mention of Black Hawk leading a band of Sauk Indians through the area and mention of a battle thereabouts. Is the plaque still there?”

Honest Abe answers your questions.
