Spirit Day Winners Announced

Showing his Badger spirit all the way from Perth, Australia, Todd Schellhase '87, MS'89 took honors for the picture sent from the farthest distance from Madison during WAA’s annual Badger Spirit Day photo contest. More than 30 other prizes went to alumni who sent photos from their homes and businesses in Wisconsin, across the nation and places around the globe.

Christianson Assumes Role as Board Chair

Peter Christianson ’71, JD’77 succeeds Reed Hall ’70 as chair of the WAA national board of directors and will serve a one-year term from July 2009 to June 2010. Along with Christianson, several new members join the board, including Martha Vukelich-Austin ’81, John Baumann ’82, Ken Ciriacks ’58, PhD’62, Tom Emmrich ’83, MBA’84, Georgia Herrera ’82 and Christopher Kozina ’92.

Bob Birr ’86 asks Abe: “I was just at a neighbor’s rummage sale who had antique sheet music. My daughter came across sheet music for ‘On, Wisconsin.’ The copyright is 1909 and printed by Joseph Flanner, Milwaukee. I went online and Flanner Music is still in existence. On their site they have a fun fact that they were the first to print ‘On, Wisconsin’ in 1909. Definitely worth framing, but just how rare is this piece of sheet music?”
