There's now another way to access your uwalumni.com email – from your desktop and mobile device!
For those of you who would like to use a more fully-featured client to access your email (like Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac Mail) or would like to get your mail directly through your mobile device (like iPhones, Blackberrys, or Treos), we now offer POP3 access.
POP3 is a standard format for email, so pretty much any email tool you prefer will access your uwalumni.com account.
There's just four little pieces of information you need to know.
1) Username is username@uwalumni.com. The "@uwalumni.com" part is necessary
2) Password. You can always change your password by logging onto the email server through the web page like you're used to.
3) Incoming server (Or POP Mail Server): pop.uwalumni.com
4) Outgoing server (SMTP server). This gets a little tricky. You should use your ISP's SMTP server name. We recommend contacting your ISP for that information, but there's handy list of SMTP servers for common ISPs [link]. You can't use just any SMTP -- you have to use the one from your ISP (so if you're a Charter customer, you can't use AT&T's SMTP server). Without this server, you won't be able to send email to anyone.
We recommend setting your email client to download all new messages (your 100MB storage limit in the web server is still in effect – downloading your emails to your client means you never have to worry about that again).
