We had old friends and their kids over last night, and after they’d left, Claire and Sean settled in to watch a movie. I wanted to stay up with them, but I’m trying to rehabilitate myself from the hopeless night owl that I’ve been for the last thirty-plus years to a rational adult who gets something resembling normal amounts to sleep. So, forgoing the movie, I went off to bed.
At 3:25 a.m., I awoke to find that a bright light was still burning. Grumbling that the kids had probably forgotten to turn it off (“Carbon footprint! Carbon footprint, people!”), I saw instead that Sean was sitting at his piano and computer. I didn’t disturb him, but I assume that he was working on the four-part male a cappella arrangement that he’s attempting.
I decided to be delighted and amused, rather than annoyed. There are a lot worse things he could have been doing.
