Yesterday I rented a steam cleaner and cleaned Sean’s dorm-room carpeting out in the driveway. I’d never done such a thing. It wasn’t cheap, but it was kind of fun.
Today he finished up the show he was in. He also vacuumed the carpet, rolled it up, and hauled it to the basement with Alex. They muscled the piano down there as well, and afterward we realized that the poor thing’s keyboard cover was all cockeyed. Beats me how it happened, but I managed to push it back into place.
Sean is very slowly moving all of his stuff — which has been strewn about the first floor since Friday afternoon — down into the basement and pulling out things that he doesn’t want or didn’t use. And, he’s been catching up with friends and getting some sleep. We’re still not quite used to having him around — or the operatic singing that goes on much of the time — but it’s good. I feel like the last few days have been a whirlwind, but we’ll settle down now and prepare for our family trip to France in a month or so.
