We had a whirlwind of a weekend! Claire was in her play both Friday and Saturday nights; Sean came home to start his break on Friday night; and we hosted a cast/crew/orchestra party with… 50? 60? 70? 80? teenagers on Saturday night after the show.
Sean was a huge help in getting ready for the party and in helping us chaperone it. I was thinking about how a college-aged person could be either part of the chaperoning problem or the solution, depending on the individual, but he was most certainly part of the solution. We called him “Mole Man,” in fact, as he was able to “infiltrate” the basement scene, where sly things could have been going on.
And today? After the whirlwind comes the calm — sleep, cleaning up, catching up. This morning we had a lot of laughs, and Sean’s made some interesting observations about how it feels very different to be in college vs. high school. He’s concluded that there’s no going back in time — something that, I think, it took me a lot longer to figure out.
It’s a little odd to have Sean here because we’re not used to having him around, but there’s no doubt: it’s great to have him home.
