MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni in the Fort Atkinson and Jefferson areas will celebrate the founding of the university with a talk from an expert on criminal justice on Tuesday, May 6.
Walter Dickey, professor of law at UW-Madison, will present his lecture, “Criminal Law at the UW: From the Innocence Project to Super Max” at the Wisconsin Alumni Association: Fort Atkinson and Jefferson Chapters Founders’ Day event.
The Founders’ Day event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Community Credit Union, 100 Main Street, in Jefferson. News media are welcome to attend. For more details, visit

In addition to being a UW faculty member since 1976, Dickey is the faculty director of the Remington Center for Research, Education and Service in Criminal Justice. He provides thousands of students with experience in criminal justice, and is currently working with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the State Judiciary to examine sentencing and correctional practices.
Founders’ Day 2008 is presented in cities nationwide by the
Wisconsin Alumni Association, a nonprofit organization, in cooperation with the
University of Wisconsin Foundation.
These events are hosted annually by UW-Madison alumni chapters to bring the latest in
University of Wisconsin research to alumni in their hometowns, raise funds for student scholarships and celebrate the founding of the university. Proceeds from the Wisconsin Alumni Association: Fort Atkinson and Jefferson Chapters Founders’ Day event will benefit both chapters’ local scholarship funds.
Participation and membership in the Wisconsin Alumni Association and its chapters are open to all alumni, students and friends of UW-Madison.
