MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni in River Falls will celebrate the founding of the university with a talk from the dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences on Wednesday, April 30.
Molly Jahn, dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW-Madison, will speak with UW alumni at the Wisconsin Alumni Association: River Falls Chapter Founders’ Day event.
The Founders’ Day event will start at 6 p.m. at the Kilkarney Hills Golf Club, 163 Radio Road in River Falls. News media are welcome to attend.
Before coming to UW-Madison in August 2006, Jahn researched plant genetics and produced several new crop varieties at Cornell University. She has garnered international recognition for her work in improving nutrition through crop breeding in Latin America, Asia and Africa. She also launched the Organic Seed Partnership and the Public Seed Initiative, projects that benefit farmers in the United States.
Founders’ Day 2008 is presented in cities nationwide by the
Wisconsin Alumni Association, a nonprofit organization, in cooperation with the
University of Wisconsin Foundation.
These events are hosted annually by UW-Madison alumni chapters to bring the latest in
University of Wisconsin research to alumni in their hometowns, raise funds for student scholarships and celebrate the founding of the university.
Participation and membership in the Wisconsin Alumni Association and its chapters are open to all alumni, students and friends of UW-Madison.
