MADISON, Wis. - University of Wisconsin fans traveling to the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla., with the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) will begin the trip on Saturday, Dec. 29.
Reporters and photographers are invited to attend any of the following events during the tour from Dec. 29 to Jan. 2 (All times local to event.)
* Depart for Tampa: Dec. 29. Fans dressed in Badger red will arrive early for WAA charter flights departing Dane County Regional Airport at 7 and 8:10 a.m. (Madison). Tours begin to arrive at the Tampa International Airport at 10:45 a.m. (Tampa).
* Interview Badger Fans and UW Alumni: Dec. 29 to 31, 12 to 5 p.m., Marriott Waterside Hotel Lobby, 700 South Florida Ave. Find fans, UW grads and knowledgeable Wisconsin Alumni Association staff who can talk about being a Badger fan and the Outback Bowl experience. A second location will open Dec. 31 at the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel, 4200 Jim Walter Blvd. To set up interviews in Tampa before or after these hours, contact Jeff Wendorf at (608) 334-2586.
* Badger Basketball: Dec. 29, 12 p.m., Champions Sports Bar, 700 South Florida Ave., located inside the Marriott Waterside Hotel. Wisconsin fans will meet at this WAA-hosted event to watch the men's basketball team take on Texas.
* Green Bay Packers Party: Dec. 30, 12:30 p.m., Splitsville Lanes and Sports Bar, 615 Channelside Drive. Badger fans will don cheeseheads and spend some time as Packer Backers during a WAA-hosted Green Bay Packers game-viewing party.
* UW Band Concert: Dec. 30, 5 to 6 p.m., 615 Channelside Drive. Fans will get fired up for the big game with a performance by the world-famous UW Marching Band.
* New Year's Eve: Dec. 31, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Florida Aquarium, 701 Channelside Dr. WAA travelers will ring in the New Year with aquarium tours, dinner, dancing and fireworks. * BADGER BLAST/HUDDLE: Jan. 1, 8:30 a.m. to Kickoff, next to Raymond James Stadium. More than 3,000 Badger fans are expected to attend the pre-game tailgate party, featuring Wisconsin-style food and entertainment from the UW Marching Band, the Spirit Squad and Bucky Badger.
* Return to Madison: Jan. 2, 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (Tampa). WAA charter flights begin departing Tampa International Airport. First flight arrives at Dane County Regional Airport at 9 a.m. (Madison.) A second flight arrives in Madison at 10:15 a.m.
