The UW’s own Ken Mayer, professor of political science, will be on hand to give a presentation looking at the highs and lows of Reagan’s presidency and putting them in historical perspective. He’ll also delve into presidential polling and the concept of high-variance evaluations, using Ronald Reagan as an example.
This is a rare chance to explore the life and times of our 40th president from a Badger perspective, enjoy a delicious lunch with LA-area Badgers and experience some memorable moments when you:

- Walk onboard an actual Air Force One, which flew seven U.S. presidents
- View a full-size replica of the White House Oval Office, the office in which President Reagan never took off his suit jacket
- Marvel at a piece of the Berlin Wall on your tour of the extensive grounds

About Your UW Speaker
Ken Mayer is a professor of political science and an affiliate of the LaFollette Institute for Public Policy at UW-Madison. His areas of expertise include the American presidency and Congress as well as campaign finance reform and redistricting. His book With the Stroke of a Pen: Executive Orders and Presidential Power (Princeton University Press, 2001) won the 2001 Neustadt Award for best book published on the presidency that year. In addition to participating in alumni events, Professor Mayer is a public speaker, active expert witness and consultant.
