This is a question you probably hear from alumni at your chapter events. But do you know how to answer it? Our answer to you is that being a WAA member is a requirement for all chapter leaders, but we’d like to give you a cheat sheet for the next time you’re talking to a grad, or giving a speech at Founders’ Day.
Answer: The Wisconsin Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting Badgers with the University of Wisconsin and with each other. WAA is a tremendous resource for alumni — it provides support for our chapter, publishes On Wisconsin Magazine and offers a way to network with other alumni around the globe. Many of the services WAA provides are available to all alumni, but it couldn’t provide them without membership dues.
When you join WAA, you’ll:
Make the cut for chapter event invites. We can’t afford to mail to every grad in your area, but WAA members are always on the list.
Get discounts on WAA event fees. When you attend a class reunion in Madison or a lifelong learning event sponsored by WAA, you’ll save money on the registration price.
Save on merchandise and services. WAA members are entitled to a discount in the Alumni Store and on car rentals, hotel stays and more.
Keep up on campus trends. Only WAA members receive Insider Magazine and the alumni edition of the Badger Herald.
Support the UW. As a side benefit, your dues help support student scholarships, alumni lifelong learning programs and career services.
