Campus Master Plan

UW-Madison is building for the future — erecting new laboratories, academic buildings and residence halls as part of its biggest construction boom since the 1960s. The UW’s new campus master plan defines the principles by which the physical spaces of campus are organized. But as they lay the foundations of tomorrow’s campus, UW planners are guided as much by the university’s past as its future.

Produced by the Wisconsin Alumni Association and Madison-based Velocity Systems, the video is presented in three sections:

The past:

A visual history of the early campus landscape (18 minutes, 17 seconds).

Current development:

A snapshot of campus projects currently in planning or construction (12 minutes, 41 seconds).

2005-2025:

A discussion on the recently completed campus master plan and vision for the next 20 years (14 minutes, 45 seconds).
The video production is introduced by WAA president and CEO Paula Bonner MS’78 and narrated by Alan Fish MS’01, associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management. As director of UW-Madison’s 20-year campus master plan, Fish guides the development of UW teaching, research and student facilities. He has overseen the planning and construction of many high-profile projects at the UW, including the Kohl Center and the renovations of Camp Randall Stadium and the cogeneration power plan.
