Planning Badger Student Send-Offs

Let WAA know your Badger Student Send-Off date by May 1, so it can be included on the calendar of events at new student orientation. This will also ensure sufficient time for printing invitations, mailing decorations, etc. WAA recommends that all sendoff events take place late July or early August. Events should be free to students with a small fee for others (suggested $5-$12).

Have them share their experience at UW-Madison, and then meet and mingle with the new students. If current students or recent grads cannot attend, have them submit testimonials about their experience. Your chapter representative can assist you in identifying these individuals.

• Information about local bus service to and from Madison.
• Distribute student contact information to assist in arranging rides back during breaks.
• WAA student program materials.
• Have your chapter put together a list of their favorite things to do at UW.

Include prize drawings for UW memorabilia, Babcock ice cream coupons, small giveaways like UW pens or notepads, fun food (i.e., decorate your cookie for dessert), and fun activities.

• Student introductions (name, high school, intended major, residence hall).
• Icebreaker activity.
