$17,500 in Scholarships Awarded

The WAA: Brown County Chapter presented 11 scholarships this year to Brown County students who are UW-Madison- bound this fall. Scholarship amounts are $1,500 or $2,000 – for a total of $17,500. They were presented at the schools’ awards events.

The Chapter has presented over 174 scholarships since 1980 (earliest records – awards presented before 1980 also). In total dollars that’s between $150,000 and $170,000 with the Foundation’s match.

Congratulations to Gerald "Cort" Condon, Named 2009 Badger of the Year.

Longtime De Pere resident Gerald “Cort” Condon has been named the 2009 “Badger of the Year” by the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Brown County Chapter. Condon received this award in recognition of his many contributions to the Brown County community. He was honored as part of the chapter’s annual Founders’ Day celebration on May 14, 2009.

Originally from Brodhead, Wis., Condon is a 1969 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison who earned degrees in accounting and finance. (He later obtained his law degree from the University of Colorado.) Currently, he is a partner in the Condon & Herald firm, located in downtown Green Bay.
