2006 Scholarship Recipients Announced
Each of these current UW undergraduates, who permanently reside in the Triangle Area will receive $750 (which is matched by WAA) for a total of $1500 toward tuition for the 2006 school year.
David Christopher, who grew up in Chapel Hill, is currently majoring in human geography. He will be beginning his Junior year this fall, and says the biggest adjustment for him, as a native North Carolinian, was the sub-zero temperatures.. (Don't we all remember that!)
Caroline Ackley, majoring in Philosophy and Integrated Liberal Studies, will be a Sophomore next semester. Originally from Raleigh, Carolina spent her spring break working in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity and WISPIRG, rebuilding homes destroyed by hurricane Katrina.
We are thrilled we were able to offer these scholarships this year to these deserving students (WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS!!!) and want to thank everyone who contributed.. Lets do it again in 2007! I would also like to thank everyone on the scholarship committee, David Six (chair), Bill Kaiser, Kelly Budzinski, and Dave and Chris Gospodarak for their time and energy.
If you know of a deserving undergrad who is attending UW and is from the Triangle area, or if you are interested in serving on the scholarship committee, please email:
Give to the UW Alumni Club of Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Scholarship Fund. All funds collected, up to $8,000, will be matched by the UW Foundation. All proceeds will go to deserving local students attending UW-Madison.
