The UWAA Shanghai Chapter is established in April, 2007 and we have over 50 members. The majority of us are Chinese returnees with a diverse academic disciplines from businesses, engineering, natural science, law to education. Graduation years range from the 1960's to as recent as 2009. Among us there are also members who are local civil servants attended training programes between the Shanghai Xuhui district government and the Wisconsin state government together with the university. It is really a good mix between locals and expats, with a very diverse background and age. The Shanghai chapter is also the first UWAA chapter founded in the mainland China.
The purpose of the chapter is to serve as a bridge between UW, its Shanghai alumni and the city. It is also a platform for the local badger community to network. The chapter is open to all the alumni, past or present staff and visiting scholars of the UW System.
Neville Lam is the founding and current president of UWAA Shanghai Chapter. He is aided by Kelvin Ma as vice president, Shawn Li, Leo Lee and Cheng Chung-yin. Jessica Xu from the Xuhui district government also serves in the committee.
We are a young and fast growing chapter and always in the look out for new members to help make the chapter a better one.
The UWAA Shanghai Chapter welcomes you and it is the place in Shanghai where badgers can call home.
On Wisconsin!
