“Festival of Trees” and December Nights at Balboa Park
The Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO) of San Diego is participating in the San Diego Floral Association’s “Festival of Trees Celebrating our States” as part of Balboa Park’s annual “December Nights” festival. SOHO has chosen to decorate their tree in honor of the great state of Wisconsin.
As Badger Alum Mary Wendorf is a member of SOHO, they have opened up the event to our members to help participate. So, if you would like to help prepare the Wisconsin tree that will be seen by over 20,000 people, here is some information on how to participate:
Preparation Potluck- Sunday, November 22- 1pm-4pm at the Marston House in Balboa Park.
This is the time for all volunteers to get together and get organized. Bring your favorite finger foods for a light snack outside on the lawn, and then help prepare the decorations for the tree.
If you have decorations you would like to bring for the tree, you can also stop by and drop them off on this day, or you can drop them off at the SOHO office any time leading up to the event. SOHO is looking for ornaments with Wisconsin wild life and other Wisconsin related items, as well as University of Wisconsin items.
Tree Decorating- Thursday, December 3rd- Del Prado Room 101 in Balboa Park.
There will be two shifts for decorating: 12pm-2pm, and 2 pm- 4 pm. Volunteers are asked to call the SOHO office at 619-297-9327 to register, or email Ashley at Ashley.christensen@sohosandiego.org to sign up.
