Riseling became UW-Madison's police chief in 1991, where her active campus involvement has brought international, national and statewide recognition of the UW police department. In 2003, Riseling's duties expanded to include her role as associate vice chancellor for protective services. Riseling was honored as Woman Law Enforcement Executive of the Year in 2003 by the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Officers and Motorola, and she was the first woman and the first university chief ever to serve as president of the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association.
Founders' Day 2008 is presented in cities nationwide by the Wisconsin Alumni Association, a nonprofit organization, in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin Foundation.
These events are hosted annually by UW-Madison alumni chapters to bring the latest in University of Wisconsin research to alumni in their hometowns, raise funds for student scholarships and celebrate the founding of the university. Proceeds from the Wisconsin Alumni Association: North Texas Chapter Founders' Day event will benefit the chapter's local scholarship fund.
