We’ll provide the activities, games and fun as we join other Bay Area Big Ten alumni from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin and Nebraska. (Northwestern will not be participating this year).
We have reserved a beautiful site near San Francisco Bay and overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Little Marina Green is a large grass area just west of Marina Green and east of Crissy Field. (Marina Blvd at Lyon Street, cross
from the Exploratorium).
We’ll have volleyball teams, water balloon toss, bocce ball and Big Ten Jeopardy. Wear your school T-shirt and bring the kids. Just check in at your school’s sign in table when you arrive for your wristband and to sign up for
any teams and games you are interested in. Parking is free along Yatch Road although spaces are limited. Make sure to register in advance to take advantage of your membership benefits.
Bring your own lunch or pre-order a box lunch from San Francisco’s BOX LUNCH COMPANY.
All box lunches are $10 must be ordered and paid for in advance and will not be available the day of the event. To pick up your box lunch the day of the picnic, check in at your school’s sign in table and you will receive your
ticket. You may then redeem your ticket for boxed lunch.
Parking is available nearby (see the blue regions of the map below).
This is a great event for people of all ages - from recent grads looking to network and meet new people, to families looking to spend a day in the city on a beautiful San Francisco October afternoon!
Cost: $10 for a Food box below otherwise your admission is covered by your fellow UW Board with RSVP.
Food Options (
MUST RSVP BY 9/19/2011):
-Mesquite Turkey – served with sharp cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, basil aioli, sweet red onion, tender hearts of romaine and sliced tomatoes
-Roasted Eggplant & Portabella – red peppers, arugula with eggplant and portobello mushroom
with fresh provolone cheese and fresh basil pesto
-Lemon Tarragon Chicken Salad – tender chicken breast tossed in a lemon tarragon aioli with hearts of romaine
-Peanut Butter & Jelly – classic combination on artisan bread
Bring your own special beverages if you desire. Also, bring beach chairs and picnic blankets!
