ITEM #1:
hockey game and a ride on the Zamboni before the 3rd period!
Badgers Wayne and Barb Thomas have donated 4 Club Seats (Section 117, Row 12, Seats 8-11, $110 face value) to a weekend game for the 2008-2009 season. This includes a rare opportunity to ride on the Zamboni before the 3rd period. Wayne is Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the San Jose Sharks. Wayne played goalie for three years at the University of Wisconsin followed by nine years of NHL play. He was on the 1972-1973 Stanley Cup team (Canadians) and also was the winning goalkeeper for the 1976 NHL All Star Game. Wayne has been on the coaching staff of the Sharks for the past 11 years. Wayne and Barb donated the Sharks items and have been strong supporters of the Bay Area Badgers.

Bid on a hockey stick signed by former Badger Joe Pavelski. After a stellar career at UW culminating in an NCAA title in 2006, Joe was drafted in the 7th round by the San Jose Sharks. In the 2006-2007 season he tied a Sharks team record for power play goals by a rookie (5). In the past 2007-2008 season he tied for 2nd in playoff points and led the team in goals (5). Bid on a signed stick by veteran defenseman Craig Rivet. Craig was part of the 2003 World Hockey championship team (Canada) and an important factor in the Sharks’ lock-down defense in the 2008 playoffs. He even did his part in scoring and was the 9th leading defensemen in the NHL in goals during the 2007-2008 season. This hockey stick was used by Craig in actual game play!
