Who We Are

“… a home at the heart of the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.”
Pres House brings together a diverse group of people on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus who are building a space to explore what Jesus Christ has to do with life. Our name suggests where we're coming from and where we're going. Founded in the traditions of the Presbyterian Church (USA), we aim to build not simply a "church" but a home – a place that is shaped by the people who spend time here. There is no single entry way to our home – you can come in through a variety of doors.

Worship – Sundays, 4:30 PM

Each week at Pres House we seek to honor and love God. We seek to be real about who we are, authentic in our worship, and creative in our expression. Scripture, prayer, music, and communion are all parts of this regular and holy gathering.

Faith Discussion and More…

Faith, politics, culture, ethics, theology, whatever is on your mind—no question is too big or small to bring to Faith Discussion Group on Wednesday nights. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you’ll find this is a safe and fun place to explore a variety of issues.
Looking for a Bible study, prayer group, or something altogether new? Pres House also offers other opportunities to get involved with a small group of people.

Outreach

Throughout the year we find ways to put our faith into action: helping at homeless shelters, raising money for enslaved children in Asia, taking a week-long trip to serve other communities. These are just some of the ways we express our faith in a loving and just God.

Fellowship

We believe that every person longs to be part of a community and to know and be known by God. At Pres House you will find a group of people who don’t always agree with one another, but who seek to know and love God and each other. And we have a good time doing it!

Student Housing

In Fall 2007, Pres House will open its new, high-quality apartment building for 280 students. Adjacent to the Pres House in the heart of the university campus, this unique learning community will be much more than a place to eat and sleep. It will be a supportive home that fosters community and encourages faith exploration.

Pres House Alumni

As we search for our history and comb through files and records of days gone by, we see names of former students, pastors, ROOJAHs (young men who live in and cared for Pres Hosue), faculty and board members, musicians, office staff, and citizens from the community who were often deeply engaged in a vibrant Pres House community. We’re awed by Pres House’s history, especially as we approach our centennial celebration in 2007, gratified by the current renewal that is taking place here at 731 State Street, and excited about the ministry’s future in the heart of the Madison campus.
