WAA: New Orleans Chapter Scholarships
Volunteers Needed
The Matching Dollar Scholarship Program is a popular way for the Wisconsin Alumni Association's ® officially chartered alumni clubs and alumni affiliate groups to assist local students who are attending UW-Madison. WAA oversees this program in conjunction with the UW Foundation and the UW-Madison Office of Student Financial Services. Contributions to the club's scholarship program are held in an account at the UW Foundation, which matches (dollar-for-dollar up $8,000 per year) the funds raised through special alumni club events.
Individual clubs are solely responsible for selecting winners and awarding scholarships. Each club determines the selection criteria, the amount of aid and the number of awards to be presented.
WAA-New Orleans is looking for people to serve on a Scholarship Committee to establish a scholarship program for the dozens of area students attending the University. This would involve setting up an application and other selection criteria, fundraising ideas, advertising the scholarship opportunity to students and selecting recipients.
