Social activities of IUWMAC:
IUWMAC hosts two social activities annually, to maintain contact among members. A THANKSGIVING dinner and party marks the founding occation of IUWMAC and the biggest festivity of the year. A short annual meeting is held prior to the dinner. A traditional turkey dinner is eaten, which has an added meaning in the Iceland-Madison context, since poultry was brought to Iceland from Madison by Jón Guðmundsson á Reykjum in the mid 1940´s.
The other is a family picnic around the time of 4TH OF JULY where people gather for an informal barbeque in the vicinity of Reykjavik or a pot-luck. Reminders of these occasions and further instructions are sent via e-mail in advance.
