MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni in the Door County area will celebrate the founding of the university with a talk from the dean of the UW School of Pharmacy on Thursday, May 8.
Jeanette Roberts, a medicinal chemist and dean of the UW School of Pharmacy, will update alumni about the future of the pharmacy school at the Wisconsin Alumni Association: Door County Chapter Founders’ Day event.
The Founders’ Day event will start at 6 p.m. at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, 600 Nautical Drive, in Sturgeon Bay. News media are welcome to attend. For more details, visit

Roberts was a J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a faculty member at the University of Utah’s College of Pharmacy before becoming the Dean of the UW School of Pharmacy in October 2003. In that role, she remains active in teaching and drug-discovery research, and is primarily involved with new selenium containing compounds and their potential as cancer chemo-preventive agents.
Founders’ Day 2008 is presented in cities nationwide by the
Wisconsin Alumni Association, a nonprofit organization, in cooperation with the
University of Wisconsin Foundation.
These events are hosted annually by UW-Madison alumni chapters to bring the latest in
University of Wisconsin research to alumni in their hometowns, raise funds for student scholarships and celebrate the founding of the university. Proceeds from the Wisconsin Alumni Association: Door County Chapter Founders’ Day event will benefit the chapter's local scholarship fund.
Participation and membership in the Wisconsin Alumni Association and its chapters are open to all alumni, students and friends of UW-Madison.
