Founders' Day 2007

May 3, 2007

On May 3, 2007, over 100 UW alumni and friends participated in our annual Founder’s Day dinner. As always, the highlight of the dinner was the naming of the Badger of the Year.

Longtime Green Bay residents Phil (’41) and Betsy (’45) Hendrickson have been named the 2007 “Badgers of the Year” by the UW Alumni Club of Brown County. The Hendricksons received this award in recognition of their many contributions to the Brown County community. They were honored as part of the celebration, held at the Holiday Inn City Centre. “Phil and Betsy are truly a symbol and reflection of individuals who have used their education from UW-Madison to become strong community leaders to make a difference in our community,” says Steve Pipp, president of the UW Alumni Club of Brown County.

The Club was fortunate this year to feature as our speaker, Rob Seltzer, PhD, director of admissions for the University of Wisconsin. During a time when student admission to the UW has become a hot issue, Rob is responsible for coordinating all aspects of undergraduate admissions, including the processing of 30,000 undergrad. applications each year. He also works with alumni across the country on student recruitment and has worked in admission for nearly 35 years. He was very helpful in answering many questions and addressing the difficulties the university faces.
