‘Twas the night before Vegas, and all through the land,
Badger fans were feeling the excitement at hand;
They wondered and hoped if this’d be the year,
But as the Badgers played on it became very clear;
They defeated San Jose, then Arizona State,
Next Austin Peay would soon learn their fate;
A loss at East Lansing to Michigan State,
Would hardly stop the Badgers from quickening their gait.
Then back to Camp Randall for the Homecoming game,
Where Wisconsin would put Minnesota to shame.
The Buckeyes had come next with hopes of a win,
But the Badgers had defeated them, to their chagrin.
When, in Iowa what to my eyes won the game,
But a touchdown by Ball, then a kick by Welch came,
The Badgers worked hard and won all the rest,
They proved to be better than all of the best.
With tenacity and vigor, they did prepare,
It paid off for the Badgers…opponents beware;
“Now, Moffitt! Now, Clay! Now, Toon, and Watt!
On Kendricks! On Gilreath! Abbrederis and Scott!
The Badgers, their colors of red and James White!
Are all that you’ll see if you come see them fight!”
Bieliema will work them as hard as he may,
To prepare them for Rose thorns on New Year’s Day,
I know there are more names of guys that I missed,
Who played with a vengeance and should be on my list.
Like Borland and Budmayr, Duckworth, Valai,
Carimi and Ewing…what more can I say?
Good luck to you Badgers, your fans will be true.
We’ll be in Pasadena to cheer you on, too.
Congrats on your season, hard work, and your fight,
Happy Rose Bowl to all and to all RED AND WHITE!
