WAA Awards

The Distinguished Alumni Awards are the highest honor bestowed by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Since 1936, WAA has been presenting the awards to the most prestigious graduates of UW-Madison for their professional achievements, contributions to society and support of the university.

Awards ranging from $250 to $1,000 are given out each year in recognition of exceptional UW undergraduate juniors and seniors.

The Badger of the Year award recognizes UW-Madison graduates throughout the state of Wisconsin who have made an impact on their communities. The awards are presented at local Founders' Day celebrations in the spring.

The Distinguished Teaching Awards ceremony and reception are sponsored by the Wisconsin Alumni Association in cooperation with the Office of the Secretary of the Faculty in recognition of excellence in teaching.

Forward under 40 is an awards program highlighting UW grads under the age of 40 making an impact in the state, nation and beyond by living the Wisconsin Idea.
