The AIDS epidemic in southern Africa is a scourge like nothing else in modern history. In almost every nation in the region, 10 percent or more of the population is infected with HIV, and in some — Botswana and Zimbabwe — the rate of infection is above 30 percent.
When Ernest Darkoh ’93 went to southern Africa, he went beyond treating patients and focused instead on finding better ways to deliver medication to entire nations. Darkoh’s education covered medicine, public health, and business, and today he draws together all those disciplines with BroadReach Healthcare, a company he co-founded to improve the health of people around the world.
