Media and Public Relations Student Assistant
Hours: Daily; 15-20/week (flexible; morning hours required)
Begins in summer and continues through the 2010-11 school year.
The Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) is looking for a student assistant with strong writing, editing and research skills to assist with media and public relations activities. This student assistantship requires professionalism and demonstrated excellence in news judgment, writing and editing. The position offers the opportunity to develop and improve skills in media/public relations and experience in alumni relations. The position is part of the Marketing and Communications Department and includes a per-semester paid stipend.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily research and development of online news clipsheet
- Write and manage executive correspondence with constituents
- Assist in writing, editing and researching news releases, feature articles and related materials
- Assist in research and execution of public relations and marketing projects
- General administrative duties, as needed
Skills, Training and Experience Required:
- Demonstrated excellence in news judgment, writing and editing
- Knowledge of UW-Madison and appreciation for fields of media, public and alumni relations
- Availability during weekday business hours
- At least one year remaining as a UW-Madison student
Preferred:
- Sophomore or junior standing
- Experience with database software
- Availability during summer and winter breaks
- Knowledge and appreciation of Wisconsin Alumni Association
