Dianne McFarland Bady '72, the founder of the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, has marshaled her forces to fight mountaintop removal mining, a process decried as ravaging the environment. If the practice continues, Bady believes, the southern coal fields in West Virginia could become “basically uninhabitable” within four years.
