Each Spring, WAA sponsors a yield reception for the graduating seniors in the PEOPLE (Pre-college Enrichment Opportunity for Learning Excellence) program, a widely recognized and highly successful program that began on the UW-Madison campus in 1998.
In 2008, we will once again engage PEOPLE students in both the Madison and Milwaukee areas, inviting all graduating high school seniors to come celebrate the success of the program and to consider UW-Madison as a strong option for their higher education.

The first cohort of PEOPLE students attending the UW graduated in May 2006.
The program includes a six-week summer residential internship component that usually runs from mid-June through July. The summer internship involves matching students with an instructor for guided academic training and placing students in internships with organizations that align with their area of academic/professional interest.
They have a large number of students whom they seek to place in internships from: 1-4pm, Monday through Friday. Students attend internship related classes from 9am-12pm. Students interest range from real estate - social service - journalism - engineering, to everything in between. The PEOPLE Program gives each internship participant a $1000 stipend and covers all liabilities involving their students. Also important to note, is that internship students have been PEOPLE Participants for a number of years and know the value of their involvement with the program.
This summer, WAA will participate in the PEOPLE internship program, working with one student who has an interest in programs and outreach, event planning and alumni relations. This student will work closely with the Chapter Outreach Unit at WAA to fine-tune those skills.
Other offices and organizations who have PEOPLE Internship Participants include: Centro Hispano, John Deere Credit, American Family Insurance, UW Biochemistry Office, UW Continuing Studies, UW Office of the Provost and many more.
