Presidents’ Circle of Excellence Award

What: Previously called the Sparkplug Award, this award will recognize excellence in volunteer service to the University for alumni who have actively served in a leadership role and have been exceptional at it.

Who: WAA will be responsible for nominating, reviewing, and awarding the Presidents’ Circle of Excellence Award and where necessary in collaboration with alumni leaders and or the chapter Board.

Process

WAA staff and chapters can nominate alumni volunteers based on the criteria outlined below. Eligibility will not be limited to specific alumni volunteer roles, and is a “next step” in their alumni volunteer career for exceptional leadership and inspiration. Recipients will be captured in ABE and will be noted for further stewardship.

Criteria

  • Alumni’s work has resulted in positive outcomes for the chapter and University
  • Alumni has demonstrated exemplary behavior and efforts and is a role model for other alumni
  • Alumni has volunteered his/her time and resources in a generous and selfless manner

Privileges/Recognition

WAA is responsible for recognizing award recipients; WAA will recognize the alumni via a certificate or a plaque/award coming from WAA President and will be invited to campus in the fall or another special ceremony where current and former leaders are invited and are provided with a 2yr complimentary, single WAA membership.

Timeline

August – Review candidates from WAA staff and award will be given as appropriate in the fall or part of another local event. This recognition will not be given to no more than five people/year.
