Richard Davis Foundation Celebrates 25th Annual Conference for Young Bassists

As a BS 2013 alumna of UW–Madison, Catherine Harris is excited and proud to serve as the executive director of the Richard Davis Foundation, which is celebrating the 25th Annual Bass Conference on March 30-31, 2018 in Madison, WI. The conference is a wonderful opportunity for young musicians, age 3-18, from across the state and country to come together for developing their playing of the upright string bass and bass guitar. Over 20 professional musicians and educators come to Madison from around the world to teach the eager young bassists. This conference was founded by professor Emeritus, Richard Davis to advance musicianship on the string bass. Alumni who have been volunteer teachers and conference organizers for the Richard Davis Foundation over the past five years include: Cooper Schlegel ’17; Elizabeth Clawson ’14; Catherine Harris ’13; Benjamin Ferris ’13; Andrew Raciti ’98; Jacqueline Pickett DMA’96; Sandor Ostlund ’94; Tine Asmundsen MM’92; and Peter Dominguez ’80, MM’82. You can connect with the organization via email, on Facebook, by visiting Mills Music Library in the Month of March 2018 for a special bass themed exhibit, or by coming to one of the two (free) evening concerts presented by the Foundation during the annual conference in 2018.
