MADISON, Wis. — Bill McCoshen, vice president of Capitol Consultants in Madison, Wis., has been named as a member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA).
WAA, based in Madison, is an independently financed, nonprofit organization, dedicated to serving alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
McCoshen earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UW-Madison. He is the vice president of Capitol Consultants, a firm specializing in government relations, public affairs and issues-based grassroots advocacy. Before joining Capitol Consultants, he was appointed by former Gov. Tommy Thompson as Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, where he was responsible for assisting citizens, businesses and communities with financing and economic development programs.
At the age of 29, McCoshen was the youngest cabinet secretary ever appointed in Wisconsin history. Prior to being appointed Secretary of Commerce, he managed Governor Thompson’s third-term campaign victory and also served as Thompson’s chief of staff. He joined WAA’s board of directors in July 2007. He lives with his family in Madison.
“We’re grateful to Bill McCoshen for giving his time and energy to help strengthen how WAA connects UW graduates to their alma mater and to each other,” said Paula Bonner MS ‘78, WAA President and CEO.
As a member of the WAA board, McCoshen partners with the association’s executive leadership and staff to drive the organization’s strategic thinking and direction. WAA board members review and approve policy, oversee WAA finances, and serve as ambassadors for UW-Madison and WAA by strengthening relationships with campus and community leaders in Wisconsin and around the world.
Founded in 1861, WAA offers UW alumni and friends a wide variety of services, including the award-winning On Wisconsin magazine, career services, international travel opportunities and lifelong learning events. Learn more at http://www.uwalumni.com.
