The Arts Institute works to make the arts more visible and effective at UW-Madison. Representing the collective voice and strength of the arts at the University, The Arts Institute funds and supports projects with university- and community-wide impact, including artists residencies, awards and fellowships, public programs, and arts marketing and outreach.

Founded in 1999, The Center for the Humanities is the primary vehicle on the UW–Madison campus for interdisciplinary programming in the humanities.

The Center's mission includes engaging faculty, students and the public in defining the humanities; fostering interdisciplinary study and teaching; and connecting the Humanities with the community through public programs and partnerships.

The Center's public programs include the "Humanities Without Boundaries" lecture series, "Humanities Forums on Contemporary Issues", "Conversations on Creativity," a new faculty lecture series, and the "Humanities Biennial."

Emeritus faculty lecture series The Division of Continuing Studies and the Institute on Aging are proud to sponsor the ninth annual award-winning series of lectures by retired UW faculty known for their teaching excellence and scholarship.

This University of Wisconsin-Madison sponsored organization is a diverse group of retired learners who benefit from: member-led lecture/discussion sessions, casual social events held throughout the year, networking with a friendly peer group, belonging to an organization affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute Network and The Plato Persimmon, a periodic newsletter about members and programs.

WAA's Founders' Days commemorate the first class held at UW-Madison, taught by Professor John Sterling on February 5, 1849. Founders' Days celebrations are held every year, from January through May, and are sponsored by the local alumni club chapters throughout Wisconsin, across the country, and around the world. Most Founders' Day events feature a dinner or reception, a presentation by a prominent UW-Madison faculty member, and other fun, fundraising, and/or educational components.

We offer an extensive selection of trips to exotic and fascinating locales around the world. Each tour brings with it not only the excitement and learning opportunities that come naturally with a trip to a new place, but also the added benefit of having a distinguished UW-Madison professor, dean, or other university or WAA faculty or staff member along. These tour guides present lectures about interesting aspects of the various destinations.

This highly acclaimed program was developed by one of our tour operators, Alumni Holidays. The concept, simply stated, is to provide an educational experience in a special environment conducive to learning, recreation, and fellowship. Through a series of lectures, excursions, and "meet the people" exchanges, participants become intimately involved in the way of life of a local community and its surrounding environs.
